  • Blood cannot be manufactured - it can only come from generous donors.
  • Approximately 60% of the Indian population is eligible to give blood - only 1% does in a given year.
  • The demand for blood transfusions is growing faster than donations.
  • A healthy donor may donate platelets as few as 3 days apart, but a maximum of 24 times a year.
  • A healthy donor can donate blood after 3 months.
  • You must be at least 18 years old, weigh more than 40 kg, and be in good general health to donate.
